The Beaulieu International Autojumble September 2011

The threat of torrential downpours and hurricane force winds didn't put off the 36,000 plus visitors to this years show, and in the event the weather was pretty warm, with some gusty winds at times, and only the odd shower to contend with. As always the show was a sell out with some pretty interesting items on offer. Petrol pumps were selling well this year whilst enamel advertising signs proved a bit more difficult particularly as there were so many on offer. 2 gallon petrol can collectors found some nice examples for their collections as did the buyer of the ROP Motor Oil tin illustrated below. Globe collectors had little choice from the norm of the standard 1960's globes with the exception of a nice Shell-Mex box globe, and a rare ROP globe. One item not photographed unfortunately but a real gem was the Shell Motor Spirit and Oils round lightbox that sold for £2,000. A few of the interesting items are pictured below which you can get a larger view by clicking the thumbnails.

French BP Energol Oil Dispenser
BP Energol French Oil Dispenser

BP Energol French Oil Dispenser 3
This is the first of several interesting French items brought over for the show. A restored 1950's oil dispenser with chromed fittings and finished off in a BP Energol livery. A superb item at a breathtaking price of 38,000 Euros.

R.O.P. ZIP Motor Oil Tin
ROP Zip Motor Oil Tin
ROP Zip Motor Oil Tin 2
ROP Zip Motor Oil Tin 3
This quart sized tin turned up on the Friday and by the Sunday had had 4 different owners. Russian Oil Product tins tend to be highly pictorial making them a holy grail for petroliana collectors and this fine example was probably the best tin at the show.

French BP Energol Oil Cabinet

French BP Energol Oil Cabinet 2
In the shape of a French BP Energol Motor Oil Tin a very desirable oil tin storage cabinet. This forecourt cabinet is a design icon and reinforces the differences in company style from one country to the next. Yours for a mere 8,000 Euros.

Vacuum Oil Co Ltd Mobiloil D Oil Dispenser

Vacuum Oil Co Ltd Mobiloil D Oil Dispenser 3
Small oil dispensing cabinet for Mobiloil D which originally would have had a small oval enamel topper sign. The cabinet holds a 5 gallon drum and this example was complete with its original makers plates and pump. Offered at £750 it sold within the first 60 minutes.

A choice selection
Wakefield Castrol Oil Cabinet Enamel Sign
French Petrol Pump in Shell Company Livery
Two items worthy of comment, the delightfully vibrant Castrol oil cabinet enamel sign was on offer at £550 and sold very quickly, the stylish French petrol pump didn't find a buyer but it was a very nice example and it was probably just down to price that it went home.

Redline and Glico
Redline Motor Spirit 2 Gallon Petrol Can Funnel
Redline Motor Spirit 2 Gallon Petrol Can Funnel 2
Glico - Newton 1 Pint Oil Pourer
2 items for the Redline - Glico fans. The 2 gallon petrol can funnel is a nice example in original paintwork which gives us a clear idea of the colour of the early Redline Motor Spirit 2 gallon cans. The 1 pint wide lipped pourer for Glico - Newton is dated 1927, this brand was to disappear in 1931 when Redline and Glico merged their companies to become Redline - Glico Ltd.
