Gaspumpgary's Collection of Garage Photographs

Our thanks to Gaspumpgary for sharing both his time and collection in providing the photographs on this page. Each photograph gives us a glimpse back in time to how it really was, such as the multitude of petrol pumps and oil cabinets all competing with their different brands, and the period advertising media making up the garage scene. From a collecting point of view the photographs help us to better understand our interest and gives us a more accurate method of dating equipment and advertising media that once was so common in the past.

Vintage Garage - Brooklands Filling Station, Sale, Cheshire No1
This garage had the appearance of being fairly newly built when photographed. Competing with one another were most of the major brands of petrol including, National Benzole, Dominion, Shell, BP, ROP and Redline. The Redline 'Arrowhead' petrol pump globe was first introduced around 1930 so this helps to put a date on this photograph.
Vintage Garage - Brooklands Filling Station, Sale, Cheshire No3
Redline Commercial was on offer and the double sided wide forecourt allowed easy access for larger vehicles to fill up.
